Jennifer Lee is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy for adults in her private practice. Prior to starting her private practice, Jennifer worked in community mental health at Tri-City Mental Health Center in Pomona, CA. Jennifer earned her Master of Social Work at California State University, Fullerton after exploring careers in the law and higher education when she realized that her vocation, or where her “deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger” (in the words of Frederick Buechner) meet, is to help people who are struggling with their mental health find relief.
Being trauma-informed is one way Jennifer is working to help her clients find the relief they are seeking while working with her. Jennifer has been trained in EMDR and became certified last year. Currently, Jennifer is working on completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification program with the goal of later training in trauma sensitive yoga.
Prior to pursuing education in social work, Jennifer worked and volunteered for nearly a decade in domestic violence victims’ services as a family advocate, development associate and an AmeriCorps VISTA program participant. Most of Jennifer’s work in domestic violence victims’ services was done at community-based organizations that served first-generation immigrant women from Asian countries.
Jennifer herself is a second-generation immigrant from South Korea who grew up in Chicago, IL. Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College where she studied Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies. Jennifer earned her first master’s degree at the University of Chicago where she studied 20th century US history focusing on the Asian American experience.
When she is not busy meeting clients and catching up on documentation, Jennifer tries to balance sitting at her desk all day with physical activities like running, yoga and swimming. Jennifer spends a lot of time with her family, helps take care of her family pets including, a dog named Griff and two hermit crabs, reads, attends church, travels and is trying to go camping more often.
