Description
Suicide prevention is a public health issue and increasing awareness related to warning signs, support, and coping tools can be lifesaving and help reduce the risk of suicide. Helping survivors of suicide loss is imperative. Suicide loss survivors experience guilt, isolation, and shame and helping client’s process their feelings is essential. It is essential to gain awareness and insight related to the impact suicide has on friends, families, and communities after a suicide attempt/after a suicide death, and provide the support, resources, and understand how different communities/cultures are impacted differently. This course will provide resources, tools, and ways to start conversations. This course will assist clinicians in identifying myths, understand that suicidal ideation/attempts is complex, identify risk and protective factors, and understand appropriate terminology.Â
