So, who is Lauren Pena, the person and the therapist?

Lauren’s journey to becoming the therapist she is today was founded in her early passion for community programs and being of service to others, as well as, her love of art and illustration.

Since graduating from LMU’s Marital and Family Therapy Program with Specialized training in Art Therapy in 2016, Lauren has gained experience in a number of community-based settings, providing individual, family, and group therapy to children, teens, and adults and loves the balance that private practice offers.

Personally, Lauren continues to make art both for herself and with her kids. She is a part of a local tap-dancing community for adults and sometimes performs. She enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, hiking, swimming, and rollerblading.

What drives Lauren professionally and personally?

Her passion for helping others and her belief in everyone deserving to have a safe space to be heard and to share their story.

What are Lauren’s top 5 values?

1) Kindness

2) Compassion

3) Honesty

4) Creativity

5) Collaboration

How does Lauren approach therapy and what makes her different?

Lauren Pena approaches therapy with compassion and curiosity. She believes in meeting the client where they are.

Often, clients are in a hurry to see changes take place, to grow into the most authentic version of themselves. Lauren gently addresses pacing, identifies patterns, and sometimes uses humor when clinically appropriate.

Lauren believes in honest communication and will model that within the therapeutic relationship as clinically needed. Lauren also brings her MFT training as well as her certification in Art Therapy.
