Rebecca Leal is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her Masters from Azusa Pacific University. Throughout her 15+ years in the field she has been able to gain a wide variety of experience and roles. Rebecca has worked with individuals struggling with psychosis, addiction and trauma. Her experience as a clinician and group facilitator for College Hospital PHP and Walden House working with female parolees has allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the need for therapeutic services to be more accessible. Rebecca has also worked in various forms of private practice since 2008, allowing her to further enhance her couples therapy skills and attachment work with individuals.
Rebecca has been able to gain additional experience in mentoring other clinicians by supervising for 6+ years, teaching Masters level courses at APU and in her role as a Director. Rebecca was also able to serve as a Mental Health Consultant and present alongside her colleagues at the Substance Use Disorder Statewide Conference. She was also the Lead of the Mental Health Emergencies Response Team allowing her to bring in more trauma informed practices to the residential community.
Her specialties include working with individuals / couples overcoming trauma, attachment issues, depression / anxiety and life transitions. Rebecca’s favorite modalities to utilize in her craft are Intergenerational Family Systems, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Seeking Safety and Celebrating Families EBPs. Rebecca has shared that she is honored to be a part of the client’s journey and to be a vessel of healing and restoration to allow for amazing growth to happen, -Joel 2:25.
While Rebecca loves talking shop and learning and reading about mental health skills and techniques, she also enjoys a life outside of the client room. Rebecca enjoys buckling her son into his jogging stroller and going out for a run when she is not at OrangeTheory getting in a workout with her friends. She has run several races ranging from 5k- 26.2, Ragnar – Tough Mudder and Spartan Races. She enjoys reading and is lucky enough to be a part of several book clubs. As a mother, Rebecca has been enjoying exposing her son to the beauty of Kauai and her favorite bands like Weezer.
