Irina is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She grew up in Ukraine, studied in Moscow, Russia, before moving to the USA in 1994. She received her master degree in psychology from Moscow State University and then another one from New York University. Irina started practicing psychotherapy in 1999 in Houston, TX, with individuals who suffered from chronic pain. Since 2004 Irina worked with adolescents and families in Los Angeles area, helping underserved population. In 2018 Irina started a private practice, enjoying working with diverse and multicultural adult population.
Irina assisted clients through life’s transitions and challenges that can potentially lead to depression, anxiety, low self-image, decreased self-confidence, relationship struggle, and negative behaviors. Irina practices Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused therapy in conjunction with Mindfulness, Behavior modification, EMDR, TRM (trauma resiliency model), Narrative approach. Irina believes that therapy helps people to process past disturbing memories and traumatic experience, develop new skills and strategies, create new meanings, and also assists people with editing their stories to look at their past and future from a different prospective.
Irina enjoys traveling to Europe, reading, hiking, dancing. She likes to paint with watercolor and used her painting to decorate her Soultenders office.
