So, who is Dr. Jennifer Pruitt, the person and the therapist?

Dr. Jennifer Pruitt is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides mental health treatment for adolescents, adults, and couples in her private practice. In addition, Dr. Pruitt provides supervision and mentorship to associates working towards licensure. Dr. Pruitt is a member of the CEU (Continuing Education Units) committee at Soultenders. 

Dr. Pruitt also acts as a provider success specialist for the Soultenders Monrovia location. In addition to private practice, Dr. Pruitt is a clinical consultant for a crisis management team. Dr. Pruitt previously provided advocacy for mental health awareness in the community and previously served as Chair of the Pasadena Mental Health Advisory Committee. As Chair of the committee, Dr. Pruitt organized an annual mental health awareness event. 

Prior to private practice, Dr. Pruitt worked in community mental health providing therapeutic services and psychological testing at Foothill Family Service. Prior to Foothill Family Service, Dr. Pruitt worked at Hathaway-Sycamores providing MAT assessments. Dr. Pruitt provided MAT Assessments at Hathway-Sycamores while pursuing her Doctorate Degree. 

As part of her doctoral education and training, Dr. Pruitt completed practicums at Santa Anita Family Services, completed practicum training in play therapy and family therapy at Julia Ann Singer Center, and completed an internship at Cal State Dominguez Hills Psychological Services. While completing training at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Dr. Pruitt provided mentorship to first generation Latina college students through Latina’s Juntas. Dr. Pruitt also previously worked as a Foster Care Social Worker with Sycamores and Rosemary Children’s Services following completion of her Master’s Degree.

Dr. Pruitt is trained and certified in Trauma Focused CBT and is trained in EMDR.   

Dr. Pruitt was born and raised in Southern California. Dr. Pruitt is the first in her family to pursue higher education and obtain her college degree. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California—go Trojans! She enrolled in a Master’s program immediately after completing her Bachelor’s Degree. 

Dr. Pruitt obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance and began working as a Foster Care Social worker before returning to school to obtain her Doctorate Degree. Dr. Pruitt graduated with her Doctorate Degree in 2009. Dr. Pruitt obtained her license as a Clinical Psychologist in 2011 and began working in private practice in 2012.  

In her free time, Dr. Pruitt enjoys spending time with family, reading, baking, trying new cooking recipes, watching movies and musicals, watching college football, and traveling.
