I launched my private practice with Soultenders exactly one year ago, in September 2025. I had spent the previous 19 years working in the DMH world, for multiple agencies. During that time, I filled the roles of direct service provider, clinical supervisor, and program director. I worked in out-patient, school-based, FSP, and Wrap-around programs with kids, teens, families, and adults.
When meeting new clients, I usually tell them that whatever might bring someone into the therapy space, I have some amount of experience with that thing. Although every now-and-then I am still proven wrong, and a unique situation pops up, which is something that I really love about this work.
I have also really loved the freedom of being in private practice, and pursuing clinical solutions outside of the sometimes-rigid structures of DMH EBP’s, and manualized methodologies. I have really enjoyed jumping back into direct service and collaborating with my clients to move towards creative solutions. I am also an Altadena resident, and a very meaningful part of my last year has been working with a few clients who are fellow Altadena residents dealing with the aftermath of the Eaton fire.
I currently work out of the Pasadena office, where I see clients, both in-person and through tele-health. When I am not doing that, I enjoy baking, woodworking, and can most often be found on the sidelines of one of my son’s soccer games.
I am a somewhat reluctant cat-person. I have one son in high school and another one that just launched to college, and earlier this month I celebrated my 24th wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife.
