So, who is Michael “Sean” Greener, the person and the therapist?

I’m a native of Southern California, having spent my life in the San Gabriel Valley. I’m passionate about music, learning, and connecting with others, which has kept me grounded and fueled my journey. With a background that includes bachelor’s and master’s degrees in flute performance, a master’s in organizational leadership, and finally a master’s in social work with a clinical focus, I’ve found my true calling in therapy. Ummm, yes, I have ADHD, and it’s part of what makes me, well, me!

At home, my wife of nearly 19 years, our two high schoolers, and a lively puppy keep life wonderfully chaotic. We embrace our creative pursuits and juggle a bustling family calendar, often needing to divide and conquer when activities get double-booked.

I’ve been with Soultenders for nearly six years, primarily working one-on-one with adults. While I occasionally see couples or families, my heart lies in individual sessions. My earlier work in community mental health with clients aged 5 to 21 taught me the importance of trauma-informed-care, which is my current specialty.

What drives Sean professionally and personally?

My love for learning spills into my therapy sessions, making each one a unique adventure. I do my best to meet my clients where they are and tailor every session to fit their needs. I mix and match strategies, often blending CBT, EMDR, EMDR 2.0, Four Blinks, IEMT, Brainspotting, Self-Compassion, Ego States, and a dash of humor, all within one session. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy and keep things light yet effective. With me, therapy is informal but informed—serious about your progress, but we can laugh along the way!

My Core Values

As a therapist, my work is guided by five core values that shape my approach and interactions with clients.

  1. Authenticity
Showing up authentically is at the heart of everything I do and allows me to build strong, trust-based relationships with my clients, fostering meaningful connections.
  2. Contentment
Contentment is about finding joy in the present moment and appreciating life’s simple pleasures. I help clients discover their own paths to contentment by focusing on mindfulness and gratitude, celebrating small victories and being at peace with where they are right now.
  3. Connection
Connection is a fundamental human need and central to my work. I believe that genuine connections provide comfort, support, and healing. By fostering strong connections, I help my clients feel seen, heard, understood and valued, empowering them to face their challenges with confidence.
  4. Development
Continuous development is crucial for growth and fulfillment. I am committed to personal and professional growth, constantly seeking new knowledge and skills to better serve my clients.
  5. Creativity
Creativity adds a spark to therapy, keeping it vibrant and engaging. Embracing creativity allows me to think outside the box and find innovative solutions in the journey of healing and growth.
